These changes would help ensure schools apply robust safety and inclusion measures consistently across Wales.","additional_details":"Children with severe allergies attend educational settings every day at risk of anaphylaxis — a rapid, life-threatening allergic reaction that can occur within minutes. Families place huge trust in these settings to keep their children safe through proper staff training, clear policies, and effective emergency responses. Sadly, this is not always happening consistently.\r\n\r\nEngland has already strengthened allergy awareness and safeguarding expectations. Wales has the opportunity to do the same. \r\n\r\nCurrent statutory guidance in Wales on managing allergies and medical conditions is not robust enough. Practice varies between local authorities and settings, creating inconsistency and leaving some children less protected and included than others. \r\n\r\nThis issue affects not only children with allergies, but also children with asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, autoimmune diseases, and other long-term health conditions. Families need confidence that schools are safe, informed, prepared and inclusive.","state":"open","signature_count":126,"threshold_for_referral":250,"threshold_for_debate":10000,"created_at":"2026-05-15T12:08:15.121Z","updated_at":"2026-05-21T20:54:30.000Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2026-05-21T14:05:40.572Z","closed_at":"2026-06-21T22:59:59.999Z","completed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-05-15T12:39:20.000Z","referral_threshold_reached_at":null,"referred_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"archived_at":null,"submitted_on_paper":false,"submitted_on":null,"creator_name":"Sarah Pattison","rejection":null,"debate":null,"topics":[],"signatures_by_country":[{"name":"England","code":"GB-ENG","signature_count":20},{"name":"Northern Ireland","code":"GB-NIR","signature_count":1},{"name":"Scotland","code":"GB-SCT","signature_count":4},{"name":"Wales","code":"GB-WLS","signature_count":101}],"signatures_by_constituency":[{"id":"W09000048","name":"Afan Ogwr Rhondda","signature_count":1},{"id":"W09000049","name":"Bangor Conwy Môn","signature_count":8},{"id":"W09000050","name":"Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni","signature_count":7},{"id":"W09000051","name":"Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd","signature_count":4},{"id":"W09000052","name":"Caerdydd Ffynnon Taf","signature_count":12},{"id":"W09000053","name":"Caerdydd Penarth","signature_count":17},{"id":"W09000054","name":"Casnewydd Islwyn","signature_count":11},{"id":"W09000055","name":"Ceredigion Penfro","signature_count":3},{"id":"W09000056","name":"Clwyd","signature_count":5},{"id":"W09000057","name":"Fflint Wrecsam","signature_count":5},{"id":"W09000058","name":"Gwynedd Maldwyn","signature_count":2},{"id":"W09000059","name":"Gŵyr Abertawe","signature_count":2},{"id":"W09000060","name":"Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg","signature_count":3},{"id":"W09000061","name":"Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr","signature_count":13},{"id":"W09000062","name":"Sir Fynwy Torfaen","signature_count":4}],"signatures_by_region":[]}}}
