Rejected petition Reject a military medicine museum in Tiger Bay in favour of one exploring multiculturalism in Wales.
There have been unpopular proposals for a new military medicine museum to be erected in the Tiger Bay area of the Welsh capital, as the existing museum is looking to relocate from Surrey. This looks to be a divisive choice of relocation. Considering the old Butetown History and Arts museum was forced to close in recent years due to funding issues, why not build a new museum which is fitting of the history and multicultural make-up of the area to provide an adequate and appropriate replacement?
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.
The siting of the museum is a matter for Cardiff Council, which owns the land on which it is proposed that it would be located, and would be subject to planning approval. Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.
You could consider contacting Cardiff Council or your local representatives about this matter instead.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
