Rejected petition Open slipways consistently across Wales to facilitate boating

Boating is now a permitted sport but many of the slipways are still closed.

Residents who live within the current travel limits are not able to enjoy the amenity of the water. This is grossly unfair.

There are inconsistent approaches being adopted. For example Holyhead Sailing Club’s slipway is open but the Council slipway in Trearddur Bay is not.

This inconsistency is inappropriate and needs to be resolved.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

Decisions about whether it is safe to open slipways are the responsibility of individual local authorities. Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
