Rejected petition Stop the potential ban on entry to Wales

Mark Drakeford has threatened Boris Johnson with closing border if the UK Government refuses to make the draconian step of legally prohibiting people from COVID-19 hotspots in England from entering Wales.

Banning people with the threat of legal sanction for entering Wales is reckless and an inappropriate use of criminal sanctions.

The proposed measure would disproportionately affect border communities both in England and in Wales (e.g. Saltney in Flintshire and Chester in Cheshire).

More details

Not only would border communities suffer disproportionately, areas of Wales dependent on tourism from England would also be detrimentally affected.

Drakeford‘s ban is completely inappropriate and is a prime example of dictating from Cardiff measures which would do irreparable economic, social, and emotional harm to those living far from Cardiff.
