Rejected petition Protect small shops by keeping ban on non essential items in large shops

Keep the larger retailers from selling non essential products.

Small businesses selling gifts, homeware and furniture have been forced to closed, whilst supermarkets and miscellaneous stores such as home bargains & B&M remain open selling these products.

The majority of small businesses will have purchased seasonal stock to sell but are now unable to.

This would undoubtedly led to many small shops going out of business

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue, or if the Petitions Committee has considered one in the last year.
