Rejected petition Provide financial assistance to agency zero hours casual workers paid as PAYE during pandemic.
Many agency workers have fallen through the safety net by not being eligible for furlough, even though they often worked full time on full PAYE basis because the agency they work for class them as casual zero hours labour.
Often these workers are also classed as 'essential workers' with many are drivers delivering goods and services to essential industries during the financial downturn due to Covid.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (the “furlough” scheme) is established by the UK Government. The Senedd and the Welsh Government do not possess powers to modify it.
As a result, it is not possible for the Senedd to take the action called for by your petition.
If you wished to, it may be possible for the Senedd to consider a petition which called for another form of financial assistance for employees that have not been eligible for the furlough scheme, such as through a grant scheme.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
