Rejected petition From 4/12/20 allow bars and restaurants to sell alcohol on premises and as takeaway after 18.00.

The new Covid rules state our pubs, bars and restaurants cannot serve alcohol at all and have to close at 6pm.
Supermarkets are able to sell alcohol though - why?
Our local hospitality businesses have been devastated by Covid and these draconian and nonsensical rules mean they will suffer even more, whilst the big supermarkets thrive. Why?
There is no science to show that Covid knows whether you are drinking coffee or wine, nor that it only infects us after 18.00.

More details

These restrictions are a nonsense.
We should be supporting our local hospitality providers - let them sell alcohol on their premises until 18.00 and then as take aways - this is the same as previous rules.
We support the suppressing of Covid, but we don’t support these measures
