Rejected petition Implement a tiered system for the hospitality sector in Wales, similar to that adopted by NHS

The rules are going to extinguish a material number of businesses in this vital Welsh sector. While imposing these restrictions to save c1700 lives, how many lives will be lost due to suicide through job loss and loneliness, to name just two saddening impacts? Rules should not protect just a young demographic - for some elderly, conversations with bar staff is their main source of human interaction. For simplicity and consistency, the sector could adopt the NHS model of tier selection.

More details

NHS has been given powers to make choices regarding visitors based upon the Covid numbers in their local areas. Please can this be adopted for the Hospitality sector? I am increasingly disturbed when considering how we are going to get through this pandemic if you cut such a huge number of individuals' ability to earn a living? It's heartbreaking that you are doing this intentionally and not recognising the difference between areas across Wales. I work all day - how can I support my local establishment if you are closing them at 6pm? Extending opening times until 8pm, post work, so evening meals can be enjoyed and serving alcohol during opening hours will make a material difference to people opting to use pubs as opposed to cafes and may give the business a fighting change to get through the pandemic. If the business has a fighting chance then so will its staff and local community. I truly believe the Hospitality sector is that vital.
