Rejected petition Abolish the Welsh Assembly

The Welsh assembly is a waste of tax payers money, to add insult to injury they are awarding themselves a 2.4% pay rise in may 2021, this equates to an extra £1600 plus to the basic salary putting them on just short of £70000. Wales has the highest unemployment rate out of the whole of the UK and yet these people think it’s ok to award themselves a very generous increase in salary. this is a kick in the teeth to the struggling people of wales who are finding it hard to find work.

Why was this petition rejected?

It asks the Senedd to do something that it is not able to do.

A referendum on this subject would need to be called by the UK Government or the UK Parliament, or specific powers would need to be granted to the Senedd in order for such a referendum to take place. As a result, it is not possible for the Senedd to take the action called for by your petition.

The Independent Remuneration Board is responsible for setting the pay and expenses of Members of the Senedd. The Remuneration Board makes its decisions independently of the Senedd and Welsh Government.
