Rejected petition Give nurses in nursing homes an emergency pay raise because of COVID 19

We all know that during the pandemic, many social workers were given pay raises or a supplement because of the spread of infection. Unfortunately, Senedd has undeservedly forgotten one category of health care workers: nurses in nursing homes. We demand, on behalf of the nursing leadership at https://touchofhealthmedical.com, that the government take immediate action to raise premiums and give additional allowances to nurses in nursing homes.

More details

As the national monitoring center's statistics on COVID 19 showed, older people were potential carriers of coronavirus disease, and as a result, a great many nurses were infected. Nevertheless, the nursing staff did not refuse to serve and care for the elderly, but such staff units in social institutions were deprived of their allowances and bonuses. We ask for urgent government action to support the nurses who still heroically remain in their positions and care for the elderly, despite the further threat of a pandemic. The nurses remain in their jobs, and it is thanks to them that we are able to maintain the stable health of our citizens.

Why was this petition rejected?

It asks the Senedd to do something that it is not able to do.

The salaries of staff in nursing homes are set by the operators of those premises, and not by the Senedd or Welsh Government. As a result, it is not possible for the Senedd to take the action called for by your petition.

However, you may be interested to know that the Welsh Government has announced that it will fund a bonus payment for NHS and social care staff: https://gov.wales/nhs-and-social-care-staff-benefit-bonus-payment

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
