Rejected petition Remove the police and crime commissioner for South Wales Police
The police and crime commissioner has failed his duty to protect Mayhill citizens in the riots on 20/05/2021 we are calling for his removal as he is incompetent of his job and would require him to step down immediately and replace him with someone who can do the job
Why was this petition rejected?
It asks the Senedd to do something that it is not able to do.
Petitions to the Senedd must call for a specific action that falls within the powers of the Senedd or Welsh Government.
Police and Crime Commissioners are elected and may only be removed from office between elections in very limited circumstances, such as if they are ‘disqualified’. These circumstances are set out in the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.
Under Schedule 7A of the Government of Wales Act 2006, powers over ‘Police and Crime Commissioners’ are ‘reserved’ to the UK Parliament. Therefore neither the Senedd nor the Welsh Government could take the action called for by the petition.
We also do not accept petitions about appointments or resignations through the Senedd’s petitions process.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
Rejected petitions are published in the language in which they were submitted
