Rejected petition Support PGCE students who have not been given the same opportunities as the previous cohort.
PGCE students of 2021 have not been given the same grace as the previous year. Many of the students have suffered from the effects of the Pandemic which has resulted in unfair outcomes as school placements and observations have been restricted.
More details
Myself and many others have been informed they need to redo a school placement this coming September despite being informed that they would be awarded QTS status. School placements have been restricted due to the pandemic and many students have had a biased view of their teaching practice.
In addition to this, observations have not been conducted in the same way as previous years, resulting in reduced opportunities to provide evidence of their teaching ability.
Many students have been refused their QTS statement despite passing all of their formal assessment processes and meeting the standard requirements.
There has been an inequality between students and this is unacceptable.
