Rejected petition Put split barriers on the end of beach hill, aberavan Port talbot.

Since the construction of the blue arched bridge in Victoria street cyclists speed down there and straight across the opening of glyn street. I know countless drivers who have had to slam on and swerve to avoid cyclists who don’t even stop to look before crossing. It’s not going to be long before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Several people in Glyn street have contacted the council and have been told that until someone dies they won’t do anything. This isn’t acceptable to us.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

Roads, other than trunk roads, are the responsibility of local councils. The development of walking and cycling routes in their local areas is also the responsibility of individual local authorities.

Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.

You could consider contacting Neath Port Talbot Council or your local representatives about this matter instead.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
