Rejected petition Exempt fully vaccinated people from self-isolation when they arrive in Wales if they transited France to Eurotunnel at Calais
People who get into their car in an “amber” country, such as Germany, and drive non-stop to Calais do not set foot on French soil, don’t breathe French air and don’t get in contact with any French people.
They only drive through France for 45 minutes and don’t leave their car (their “bubble”) until they are in Folkestone. There is no way that transiting France in such a way can cause any health or infection risk in Wales.
More details
Under current legislation, fully vaccinated people who fly into the UK from Germany do not have to self-isolate, although they inhale the air inside airport buildings and inside planes where antigens exist in abundance and are spread widely by the air condition.
Meanwhile, fully vaccinated people, who tested negative and who did not leave their “bubble” (car) between Germany and Folkestone are sent into 10 days of self isolation.
There is neither logic nor sense nor any scientific evidence that would support the current legislation.
This is why I demand an end to the self-isolation rule in Wales for fully vaccinated people who only transited France without stopping; “transit” should not be treated equally to visiting, staying or stopping in France.
