Rejected petition Ensure all shopping trolley seats have working lap straps to keep babies safe
Trolley seats for infants are not safe without the use of straps. Without being restrained in the seats, infants can easily tip, fall and climb out of them, leading to major injuries. Some supermarkets do not even offer straps on the seats and others which do, do not maintain them and most straps are often broken, missing or not fit for purpose.
More details
It should be made law in Wales that all trolley seats have straps that are regularly maintained and in working order to prevent babies and toddlers sustaining easily avoidable, potentially life threatening injuries.
