Rejected petition Stop the expansion of GLJ Recycling, Cwmcarn towards residential areas.
This processing plant is widely objected by the community as it is heavy industry within a small village setting. It has constantly polluted the area of natural beauty with fumes, blue smoke, dust and noise. Explosions, out of hours working and building without planning permission are also regular occurrences. Houses already vibrate and they want to move more heavy fraction machines towards these homes.
More details
A new primary school has also just been granted planning permission to be built on land very close to this even though they will also be processing hazardous waste. House values will massively depreciate in the area and the councils plan to create a tourism hotspot in an area of nature and wellbeing will be flawed as this is clearly visible and can be heard from windy ridge on Cwmcarn scenic drive.
Residents mental and physical health is being compromised and one persons business is being put before people lives and homes.
Residents have been complaining to NRW and Caerphilly council for several years via emails and phone calls including video and photographic evidence but it often falls on deaf ears with no action taken to remedy the situation.
