Completed petition Petition for a Welsh Government inquiry into the campaign of trans rights activists at Cardiff University

In recent months at Cardiff University, transgender rights activists have waged a campaign of harassment and violent threats against academics critical of Stonewall. We feel that the university and police have failed to protect the academics, potentially reflecting the links of these organizations with Stonewall. We call for an inquiry into this affair.

More details

Following an open letter in June 2021 which suggested that Cardiff University leave Stonewall, protestors distributed a leaflet with the names and photos of the 15 academic signatories under the heading “ACT NOW”. A whistle-blower submitted messages from the Facebook page of the LGBTQ+ Society. Students wrote highly aggressive messages, including threats to signatories.
The university has refused to take what we consider to be meaningful action, despite knowing the identity of several perpetrators. It's time for an inquiry.
