Rejected petition Convert the empty Llanishen Tax Office in Cardiff building to temporarily house Ukrainian refugees

All of Wales is behind the efforts to help Ukrainian refugees but not everyone is in a position to house a family in their home.

Llanishen Tax Office in North Cardiff is a huge office building which is currently empty. This should be converted to house hundreds of refugees.

It already has heating, plumbing and electricity. People could volunteer their time and skills to convert it into comfortable accommodation very quickly.

More details

Having one location for a large number of refugees would make it much easier for services to help integrate them into the UK and community groups to direct their efforts to help. It would also provide much needed Ukrainian-speaking community for people who have recently experienced serious trauma.

It also has huge car parks which can be used to set up marquees for services or playgrounds for the children and a canteen to enable mass cooking.
