Rejected petition Reduce motorcycle and vehicle noise and excessive speeding on Welsh Country Roads.
The community speedwatch have been registering speeds in excess of 75mph within the local 40mph zones. On average we register 30 over speed incidents an hour during monitoring periods. In addition the noise from visiting motrocyclist running the various routes is intollerable. The attraction of speeding on the A525 and B5430 which feed off the notorious Moors Inn X Roads which has seen numerous serious accidents and road deaths over recent years.
In the last 12 months there has been 2 major accidents on B5430 Llanarmon Road due to excessive speeding. This has resulted in hospitalisation to Stoke Trauma centre. The A525 is a known motorcyclist visitor route into Wales and attracts both motorcyclist and car drivers to test their vehicles acceleration off the Moors Inn X Roads and along the 40mph straight which leads onto Llandegla Moor which is a fast straight road for approximatly 2 miles before it hits a series of sharp bends leading to the the Llandegla X Roads. At this point there is the option to turn right and head towards the horseshoe pass or straight on to Ruthin.
