Rejected petition Ensure archaeologists survey all large works that disturb the earth

When large construction is planned for any constituency within Wales, no construction company is obligated to work with archeologists to survey the land for possible signs of historical significance. I feel this needs to be addressed if we are to learn from our history which helps piece together our heritage and identity.

More details

After seeing the large bypass road being built near Caernarfon, an area which is of significant importance in relation to iron age remains at Yr Eifl and Dinas Dinlle, tonnes of soil and thousands of stones which were once built by farmers were displaced by construction workers who had no background in archaeology nor with history degrees. Therefore, important artefacts may have been destroyed or overlooked.
