Rejected petition Stop catchment intake for high school and allow intake from a feeder school.

My childs primary school is a feeder to the chosen high school. However the requirements have changed and the child now needs to live in the catchment area for the school. I'd like this changed to needing to be in a feeder school rather than the catchment area.

More details

My child has been excluded from her peers and is the only pupil from her class attending another high school. Not only has this had a detrimental effect on her mental state it has affected us a family. High school is a big step for all children and they should not be made to do it alone! After COVID, measures need to be taken to ensure the children's mental health is priority. Not class numbers or funding!

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

Admission arrangements for individual schools are made by local authorities or school governing bodies, depending on the type of school.

Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.

You could consider contacting your local council or your local representatives about this matter instead.
