Rejected petition Hold a referendum on the future of the “Prince of Wales”
The Senedd should hold a referendum on the use of the title “Prince of Wales” for the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom. It should be the people of Wales to decide if they would like a ceremonial prince, not at the discretion of the British monarch.
The title of Prince of Wales was used by native Welsh Princes until Llywelyn ein Llyw Olaf was murdered on the orders of King Edward I of England in 1282, and bestowed the title to his English heir, the future King Edward II.
