Rejected petition Authorise the erection of a permanent sign for Llandegley International Airport.
For 20 years, there has been a sign on the A44 near Crossgates which announces: Llandegley International / Terminals 1 and 3 / 2 (and a half) miles. From this, a community has grown (2,500 fans on Facebook) and the airport is a much-loved shared experience for many. The sign is regarded locally as a national treasure.
More details
The sign has cost a lot of money to maintain, given that it's an advertising hoarding. The airport's founder, Nicholas Whitehead, and his supporters are calling for the sign to be made official. We call on the Senedd to liaise with CADW, Powys County Council and any relevant bodies to authorise the erection of the new sign. We are not asking for money. The cost will be covered by crowdfunding.
