Rejected petition Change complaints process for Health Boards and Local Authorities as they’re not fit for purpose
Current complaints procedures for social services, local authorities and health boards, are not fit for purpose as they protect the organisations rather than address the issues fairly. I am aware of unpaid carers / parents of disabled children who have been threatened not to make complaints or threatened if they complain with threats of having their child removed or support taken away. Professionals must be held accountable.
More details
Many unpaid carers / parents of disabled children are afraid to speak out. Families need protecting while using the complaint procedures. The policies need to be changed so that people have the right to use the complaints procedures without being punished by local authorities and health boards.
