Rejected petition An £86,000 cap on the amount anyone will need to spend on their personal care over their lifetime.
People’s finances are assessed to determine if they qualify for financial support in Wales, and many people will spend most of their life savings or sell their home to fund their social care.
This is despite having worked all their lives and paid into the system with tax and national insurance. This is discriminatory to this section of population. An £86,000 cap on the amount anyone in England will need to spend on their personal care over their lifetime was passed by the UK Government in October 2022. Wales should introduce this in line with England.
