Rejected petition Training/guidance for psychologists to identify and support victims of abusive alienation behaviours

We know Alienating behaviour is a serious form of psychological abuse which can no longer be ignored.  Alienating behaviours must be acknowledged by mental health professionals in Wales. Children or vulnerable adults often remain with the alienator exacerbating psychological damage . Psychologists have no guidance or advice for victims or survivors of this type of abuse. There are potential links to brain damage via psychological trauma caused by alienating and narcissistic behaviours.

Mediate Don’t Alienate!
A campaign from Cymru Grandparents Support

It is estimated that at least 2 million children in the UK are denied contact with their grandparents, (result from a study commissioned by IBB Solicitors in Oct 2019)

Family breakdown occurs for a variety of reasons, separation and divorce, drug and alcohol dependency, violence within the home, bereavement and family feud.

Every child has the right to a loving and caring relationship with their grandparents unless it is proven unsafe for the child. ( https://bristolgrandparentssupportgroup.co.uk/)

Children, parents and grandparents who are subjected to these abusive behaviours experience the same trauma reactions as those who have suffered other forms of abuse.

Given the current demand on mental health services it is now a critical requirement that psychologists are trained in early detection of alienating behaviours in order to begin early therapies.
