Rejected petition The welsh government to hold a referendum for welsh independence

Please read this whether you do or don't support independence. This isn't about Plaid, Labour or the tories. It's about Wales. If you don't support independence and you believe that those who want independence are a minority, then you should sign this petition. You should sign this because when the results of the referendum arrive, then we will see who is right.
However if you are a supporter of welsh independence, I'm sure you know what to do. Cymru rhydd

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

Paragraph 1 of Schedule 7A to the Government of Wales Act 2006 reserves the union of the nations of Wales and England. It would not be within the legislative competence of the Senedd or the Welsh Government to hold a referendum on the matter. As a result, it is not possible for the Senedd to take the action called for by your petition.

Further information about the powers and responsibilities of the Senedd can be found here: https://senedd.wales/how-we-work/our-role/powers/

You may wish to consider petitioning the UK Parliament about this issue instead: https://petition.parliament.uk/

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
