Rejected petition Employ a School crossing patrol person for St Mary's Brymbo School, Wrexham, North Wales

We would like to create a petition to voice the local communities request for a lollipop person to help our children cross the road safely, to and from school.

More details

The Ael Y bryn Road (outside the school main gates) is extremely dangerous for our pupils accessing school (between 7.45-9am) and leaving the grounds (2.50-3.20pm).

-There are no speed bumps or speed reducing fixtures to Ael-Y-bryn (as found outside almost all other schools in Wales).
-The road is not only on a bend, but is also on a steep hill and narrows to single traffic when cars are parked near pavements.
-There are no flashing signal lights, pedestrian crossing areas or appropriatly placed signs to warn drivers to slow down.

The school has frequently communicated this problem with the community via our school newsletter but we would like to see the council prioritise this matter for the safety of all our pupils at St Mary's, before it is too late to act.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.

You could consider contacting Wrexham Council or your local representatives about this matter instead or use the Council's petitions process
