Rejected petition Banish "School Streets",

A School Street is a road outside a school with a temporary restriction on motorised traffic at school drop-off and pick-up times. The restriction applies to school traffic and through traffic.
These so called restrictions, victimise car drivers, who are not residents in that area. And criminalise honest road fund licence payers, who need to use those Streets during the restrictions.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

The designation of school streets is a matter for local authorities.

Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.

You could consider contacting Carmarthenshire Council or your local representatives about this matter instead or use their petitions system https://www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/home/council-democracy/councillors-ams-and-mps/public-participation-strategy-and-petition-scheme/

Alternatively you could create a petition, which calls on the Welsh Government to stop supporting school streets.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
