Rejected petition Allow wild camping in our National Parks and also adjacent to the public footpaths throughout Wales.
The Covid pandemic has demonstrated the importance of access to our countryside and nature. Both our physical and mental health can benefit massively from the natural beauty of Wales.
We believe that both residents and visitors alike would benefit from accessing places like our coastal and Offa's dyke footpaths and this in turn would help support our businesses and wider economy.
Scotland has already demonstrated that wild camping rights can be boh popular and sustainable.
More details
Our natural resources should be accessible to all.
Too many people in Wales are restricted to the often polluted paths and roads of our towns and cities. Opening up our countryside to all would allow people to learn to love it's precious wildlife and commit to protecting it.
But with this right, we would expect people to also adopt a "leave no footprint" policy in order to protect our countryside.
We would suggest that this wild camping right would apply to back packers only and for a maximum of one night at any one spot to avoid any local annoyance.
