Rejected petition A public inquiry into all Relationship & sexuality education (RSE) providers.

RSE claims to be inclusive, factual, safe & healthy, with a rights based approach.
We request a public inquiry into ALL providers in Wales, ensuring each one does all which RSE & health & wellbeing aims to achieve.

More details

Sexual safeguarding, inclusion, scientific facts, adequate qualifications & training of all organisations & its employees & volunteers must be investigated to ensure the appropriate levels of safeguarding in Wales.
Resources & classroom content must ALL be fully referenced with scientific facts & academic resources.
Funders & conflicts of interest should also be considered.
The public need to see evidence of a safeguarding first approach.

Why was this petition rejected?

It asks the Senedd to do something that it is not able to do.

Section 1 of the Inquiries Act 2005 gives Welsh Ministers the power to establish an inquiry where it appears that
- (a) particular events have caused, or are capable of causing, public concern, or
- (b) there is a public concern that particular events may have occurred.

Given that an inquiry can only be held in relation to certain event(s) that have (or may have) already taken place, it is intended for retrospective investigation.

The Relationship and Sexuality Education is part of the new curriculum, and therefore a public inquiry would not be an appropriate route at such an early stage in its implementation.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
