Rejected petition Keep and expand the 20 mph limit

The new 20 mph limit in Wales is one of the most daring and innovative traffic initiatives I can recall in living memory. It's time we stopped pandering to drivers - we have a responsibility to drive safely in the interest of our fellow citizens. Enforcement is the only way this will happen.

More details

As a resident on a busy road, I experience the direct impact of irresponsible driving. Sometimes, I'm afraid when entering & exiting my own car parked on the street. As a cyclist, lower speed limits, traffic calming and cycle paths are a long overdue evolution of our transport strategy. Drivers should not be given a disproportionate stake in this conversation as they will always argue for faster speeds, less compliance, less accountability.
