Rejected petition Ban the sale of fireworks to the general public.

As an ex ambulance service employee I have seen the injuries caused by the incorrect usage of fireworks and the damage they can cause when set off in a malicious manner. They cause panic and terror in pets because some of these fireworks are as loud as bombs. Also supermarkets are selling fireworks more than a month before bonfire night with the effect that we have to suffer the noise from sunset to after midnight in a lot of cases.

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue, or if the Petitions Committee has considered one in the last year.
