Rejected petition Stop the large amount of Cardiff waste being dumped into the waste tip adjacent to Spittal.
Since the new owners have bought this waste recycling centre they have increased the amount of waste in the landfill by transporting an additional 50,000 tons of Cardiff residents waste to this site. Local residents have experienced a severe deterioration in air quality accompanied by putrid, fetid smells that have severely impaired the quality of life. The acridity of the air quality leaves residents shut inside their properties with windows closed in a vain attempt at keeping the stench out.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.
Concerns regarding air quality would be a matter for the local authority from an environmental health perspective.
Petitions to the Senedd cannot concern an issue that is the operational responsibility of a local authority and, therefore, we are not able to accept a petition on this issue.
Petitions which ask the Senedd to intervene in the operational decisions or actions of local authorities are not admissible.
You could consider contacting your local council or your local representatives about this matter instead.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards
