Rejected petition Change transport policy so that children with disabilities can access breakfast and after school clubs

My daughter was diagnosed with autism when she turned four years old. Since then no help was available due to funding until she started nursery and full time education in a special needs education setting. All children are escorted by taxi to give them independence, the policy states that all children must be picked up and dropped off at their address. This takes away opportunities for parents to work or be in full time education.

More details

By giving families more flexibility to change their transport arrangements, children would be able to attend breakfast and after school clubs, gives the well-deserved parents the right to work or attend school to better themselves to provide for their families. Not having any clubs available for disabled children not only takes away equal rights but also confirms that there is no extra help for parents. The Welsh Government paid millions of pounds for the 20mph speed limits but denies to invest in the education system. This is unacceptable and it is time for a change to be made. I speak for all special needs parents when I say that we are constantly fighting for basic rights for our children. I hope all parents in Wales signs this petition, let’s make a change!!
