Rejected petition Rescind 20mph zonings and put the money into our failing NHS

The cost of this blanket zoning has already cost approximately 34 million pounds, with an expected negative deficit on the Welsh economy of 4.5 billion pounds over 30 years. With so many patients waiting for treatments, hospitals in special measures including closures, sick patients lining corridors in A&Es , patients waiting to be discharged home; surely it’s time now Drakeford has finally resigned, to put this funding into getting patients seen, to save real lives and improve our nation’s NHS.

More details

As an ITU nurse, it’s becoming increasingly obvious Welsh hospitals are just not coping. Many patients in recent weeks have had to be discharged home directly from my unit because there is no beds on the wards to move them to, as these are often taken up by patients who need extra care at home before they can be discharged. There has been a distinct lack of focus in recent years on where funding needs to go, this pointless exercise of blanketing 20mph zones to a cost of millions already to Welsh economy, to supposedly save around 9 lives a year and prevent 98 serious injuries, versus (as of September) 593,000 patients who are on waiting lists for treatments (both sets of info from Welsh Government Website) not to mention the over stretched Emergency Services who are battling queues outside of A&Es to get patients seen. This money needs to be directed; from what is in my opinion theoretical statistical data, towards factual information so we can save and improve real lives in real time.
