Rejected petition Introduce free transport for secondary school children

Costs of school bus fares are rising which is becoming extremely unaffordable for some families. My family spends just over £75 a month for two children which adds up to almost £700 a year.
Living a 30-40 minute walk away from the school means that we don't live far away enough for free transport but it is also illogical to walk through bad weather conditions meaning we have to pay the fee every month.

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue, or if the Petitions Committee has considered one in the last year.

The Committee is already considering a similar petition. We're talking to transport experts about it later this month.
