Rejected petition Protect small schools from closure. Keep Rhydri Primary School open
The LEA have made a recent decision to close down Rhydri Primary.. As a community we are left in shock. Without any other centre, the school has been the heart of Rudry for 125 years. The LEA's decision reflects a worrying trend across Wales of closing small schools and overlooking the local communities which make Wales what it is. Please sign this petition to show your support for Rhydri and other small schools and communities like it.
More details
Rhydri Primary School is a unique, nurturing and high achieving school set in nature. Last year the LEA gave parents 12 months to grow the school (in terms of pupil size) before deciding its fate. 9 months later pupil numbers have increased an impressive 25%, clearly demonstrating demand for this type of school and the potential for future growth. Despite this, the LEA have decided to close the school. This has had a massive detrimental effect on the whole community including the wellbeing of the children, parents and teachers.
