Rejected petition Reduce the speed limit of 50mph to 40mph, along the A483 traveling through Crossway & Howey.

Within Crossway & Howey resides the largest Moblie Park Home Site, with no safe pedestrian crossing for the elderly people that reside on the site, adjacent to the A483 Trunk Road.
Opposite this site resides many young families who are expected to walk along the trunk road to attend the local schools in Llandrindod Wells. Additionally, Howey Village also resides adjacent to the 50mph speed zone.
This request to reduce the speed limit is not within the remit of the Local Authority.

More details

Residents in this area have, for many years, requested the local authority to address the concerns of the 50mph speed limit and request this limit be reduced to a safer 40mph.
Following consultation and the development of the Active Travel Network Maps, the route between Llandrindod Wells and Howey was identified and agreed. The works towards Howey will include widening and improving the surfaces of the pavements to become an accessible shared-use path, improvements to junctions in-line with the new highway code rules, ensuring priority is given to both pedestrians and cyclists, and increased safety for all road users. This brings additional concerns regarding the speed of vehicles through this section of the A483.
We believe that this development in this area, brings a greater need than before, to reduce the speed limit. We ask the Senedd to reduce the speed limit to 40mph through Crossway & Howey to make this a safer area in which to travel and prioritise the safety of residents.
