The expansion of the Senedd from 60 to 96 members will cost an estimated £17.8 million extra a year. When there is unprecedented pressure on the NHS and schools, this is a frivolous waste of money.

The introduction of the 'Closed List' system risks creating a democratic deficit where party candidates are selected by party bosses with potentially no link to the constituency. There is no recall function at this point for bad behaviour while in office.

When the electorate has no say over individual candidates, we risk sliding into a technocracy.
