Rejected petition Allow the people of Wales to vote for new First Minister by way of election

The people of Wales should be allowed the democratic right to elect any new First Minister.
An election should be called and the Senedd dissolved until new elections

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue, or if the Petitions Committee has considered one in the last year.

There are currently two petitions collecting signatures on this theme:

Call for an early Senedd election.

An automatic general election if the party in government changes their leader and therefore First Minister mid-term.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards

Rejected petitions are published in the language in which they were submitted
