Rejected petition Give the public the right to roam like in Scotland.
Scotland has permitted the Right to Roam set out in Section 1 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. The act states that everyone in Scotland has the right to be on the land for recreational purposes and to cross this land for said uses.
Wales is a beautiful country with public access National Parks and many other rights of way. However, there are other areas of outstanding natural beauty which the public does not have access to.
More details
If the legislation was introduced it may encourage more ethnic minorities to visit the countryside without traveling vast distances to visit open access land. The Welsh countryside is full of wildlife in the diverse landscape in which the public is missing out on.
