Rejected petition Implement a photo identification requirement for voting prior to the 2026 Senedd election.

Unlike many other countries across the globe and Europe, Wales is in the
minority having no identification (ID) requirement for voting in elections. Voting ID is required in many countries such as Ireland, Germany, Italy and Norway.

Without voting ID, there is an inevitable increase in the risk of fraud occurring in elections.

It is essential for a voting photo ID requirement to be in place, as it plays a fundamental role in certifying that only those entitled to vote are able do so.
