Rejected petition Reverse the decision to ban puberty blockers as it contravenes the Equality Act 2010.
Under the Equality Act 2010, gender identity is a protected factor. For Wes Streeting and the Welsh Government to essentially ban puberty blockers for under-18s, I believe this to contravene the legislation in place. This ban will do untold damage to those who do not conform to outdated binary understandings of gender. Therefore, please consider signing.

Having worked, providing psychotherapy and being part of the LGBTQIA+ community I have severe concerns about the impact of this decision. Suicide rates are already high within the trans community due to discrimination, lack of understanding, and rejection.
Prior to puberty blockers becoming available individuals had to look elsewhere to obtain hormones to block the onset of puberty. These hormones would not be regulated in the same way that NHS medication and could cause harm.
Furthermore, what message is being sent to young adults and adolescents who do not align with their designated biological sex?
Please overturn this unlawful decision.
