Rejected petition stop the closure of Cefn Fforest leisure centre

The swimming baths have been part of this community for many decades. It is well-used and loved. All the local schools use it and a lot of people in Cefn fforest and surrounding areas. Cefn Forest is an area with a high percentage of people who do not own cars through economic decisions as well as to protect the environment. It is the only centre that has a pool deep enough to train the next generation of Olympians. It would be devasting to lose this asset.

We had an open public meeting a few weeks ago and the community centre was so full of people who had a strong depth of feeling that we could not all fit in the building.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the Senedd or Welsh Government is not responsible for.

This is a matter for the local authority.
