Rejected petition Increased Funding and Support for Teaching Assistants to Assist Children Facing Adversities

We call for increased funding and support for Teaching Assistants in Wales to ensure they are adequately equipped to support children with ALN.

TAs play a vital role in education, providing support and helping to meet the diverse needs of students. TAs are underfunded & not trained to face challenges of children with ALN. I.e ADHD, ASD, ACES etc

A Child facing challenges require more than just academic help. They need understanding, and targeted support to thrive in school.

More details

TAs often lack the training and time to fully support these children. This not only affects the wellbeing of students but also places an immense burden on our education system.

We ask the senedd to:

1. Increase funding to schools to provide competitive wages and adequate training for Teaching Assistants ensuring they are well-equipped.

2. Provide specialized training for TAs to support children with ranges of ALN.

By increasing support and investment in TAs, we can help create a more inclusive, nurturing, and equitable learning environment for all children in Wales. Our future generation deserves a quality education, and teaching assistants are critical to making this happen.

We respectfully ask that you consider this petition and take action to provide Teaching Assistants the resources, training, and support they need to help all children reach their full potential.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Major
