Petition The leisure facilities on the old MOD base in St. Athan, Vale of Glamorgan to be open to the public
There is not sufficient wheelchair rugby provision in Wales for those with physical disabilities. There are over 25,000 registered disabled people in the Vale of Glamorgan alone and I want to create a provision for us to play wheelchair rugby, which is an amazing sport. The Vale of Glamorgan lack affordable and suitable venues to train and play the sport, the old MOD site at St. Athan is under used and has a suitable sports facility that could be used for wheelchair rugby.
More details
I have previously tried to create this provision (2023), however the Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby organisation blocked me by denying me the sports wheelchairs required (they are £5000 each). I was told by GBWR that the state of wheelchair rugby in Wales was poor and they would not support another failing club, I explained that I do not fail and that I had players ready, and support from the local authority, the only thing lacking was wheelchairs. This time I am confident that funding can be achieved from Sport Wales for the chairs.
