Petition Stop the plague of unadopted roads in Wales.

Developers across Wales are actively avoiding complying with planning legislation around road adoption, as the Senedd has failed to update legislation to enable the courts to act adequately on breaches of planning. Remove the £1,000 cap on fines for breaching planning condition notices by unscrupulous developers. England doesn’t have this issue as they have no cap, why should we?

More details

Like so many others, the estate we live in was built 12 years ago and the developer failed to prepare the roadway for adoption by the local authority.

Each time the local authority takes the developer to court for breach of planning, the frustrated judge hands out the maximum fine he is able to for failing to comply with each ‘breach of condition notice’, £1,000. As the road continues to deteriorate, we have become prisoners in our homes, unable to sell due to the state of the road and effectively making our properties worthless. Our children and elderly are at constant risk of injury from gigantic potholes, cars are getting damaged, delivery companies and refuse collectors have refused to attend the properties. It’s a miserable mess.

Please support our ambition to stop this happening to anyone else in Wales. Devolution was never meant to be like this…
