Rejected petition Use the Welsh-language spelling for Welsh place names, where suitable
For too long, a myriad of places throughout our country have had to fall subject to unnecessary name changes from Welsh to English - and more especially - unnecessary changes in the original spellings.
Now, is it not time to use the correct, truly Welsh and Celtic spelling of the name? If we want to continue to preserve, grow and share our language with the world, we should do the little things - y pethau bychain!
More details
For example, Aberafan and Aberavon, Sgeti and Sketty, Caerffili and Caerphilly.
Further up the country, places like Ynys Môn have had to endure the hardship of such a meaningless English alternative to their historic and truly Welsh identity and name.
Whether we start with just the spellings or revert back to the Welsh altogether for other places, it doesn't matter. Let us bring back pride in our heritage and history.
