Rejected petition Fund and deliver Gabalfa Railway Station by 2028 - the original advertised timescale.

The original South Wales Metro promised a new Railway Station at Gabalfa by 2028, however recent information suggests that, whilst Gabalfa is still an aspiration, funding for it is now uncertain. Local people are concerned that recent maps of the network no longer show it as "planned" and there is no timescale for the station's delivery.
Its proposed location is close to areas of multiple deprivation in the Llandaff North Ward and would enable people of limited means to travel to work or study.

More details

The proposed Gabalfa Station is a vital piece of transport infrastructure planned for the border of the Llandaff North and Gabalfa wards in the area of Mynachdy (the first council estate in Cardiff.)
Gabalfa Station's proposed location is very close to areas of multiple deprivation in the Llandaff North Ward and would, therefore, enable people of limited means to travel to work or study and reduce the necessity for them to own a car.
The station would provide fast, frequent, sustainable access for communities along the Treherbert, Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare railway lines, Cathays, Cardiff and beyond to both the University Hospital of Wales and Cardiff Metropolitan University. This would relieve the parking issues that affect the communities who live near those destinations.
